Reactivity with water
•Metals in group 1 are more reactive then those in group 2.
•Metal reactivity with water increases as you move down a group.
•Transition metals are less reactive with water.

Metals follow the same general pattern as with water but they more vigorously.

Metals react with oxygen to form metal oxides.
Eg. Sodium + oxygen à sodium oxide
Again group 1 is more reactive than group 2 and both are more reactive than the transition metals.
